Final Project Treatment

I got my idea for my final project from the song The Bird and the Worm by Owl City. The song lends itself to a ton of really cool visuals that would be perfect for animation. I want my project to start with a shot of the sky with a bird flying, which then begins to circle for a dive. The next shot will be of a worm hole in the dirt. A worm will poke its head out and look up at the sky, when a different bird will come up and start to poke the worm into pieces.

We will then see the first bird start its dive, and it will dive down to the worm and pick the worm up with its talons and fly away. The next shot will be of the bird flying through the sky with the worm smiling, then closing its eyes. The camera will track in until all we can see is the worm's "face." The camera will track back out to see the worm is now on the end of a fishing pole being cast into water. The next shot will be of the water with the worm floating down from the top on a fishing line.

Next, a bunch of different kinds of fish will swim up to the worm and they will all start "dancing." Then I want to track in to the worm and have a thought bubble next to him of the bird. Track back out, and have all the fish and the worm dancing again for the ending.

I just bought a photoshop tablet thing, so my hope is to draw all of the characters and many of the movements. When there are segments that can be animated, I will do so in after effects to save time. I will loop a background of the sky, as well as the water in the underwater shots. I also hope to use the 3D camera effects that we learned last week in after effects. I think this could add a really cool element to my project. My sound track will obviously be a spliced one minute (roughly) section of the Owl City song.
